The unusual uses and benefits of toothpaste as a home remedy.
1. Everyone uses toothpaste to keep their teeth clean and fresh, but this substance can also be used as a natural remedy for pimples.
2. It’s best to use a white cream toothpaste, rather than the gel variety. Simple apply this to pimples and let it dry.
3. The baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and menthol in toothpaste will work to destroy the bacteria causing the spots.
4. This works quickly to bring down the inflammation, however it can be very drying so you should use a moisturiser afterwards.
5. Toothpaste can also be applied to bug bites, and blisters. This has the same effect as it does on pimples.
6. If you have a minor burn, you can apply toothpaste for a cooling effect. This is a quick fix to prevent the wound from opening. This also relieves the stinging pain.
7. You can also brush your nails with toothpaste using a soft brush. This will buff up the nails, making them stronger and shinier.
8. Some people use a small amount of toothpaste as a styling aid for their hair. This can be excellent in a pinch if you have run out of hair gel or wax.
9. Often our shoes get dirty and scuffed. White shoes can be cleaned using an old toothbrush and some toothpaste. This works as a light abrasive to clean off the dirt.
10. The same can be done with carpet stains, clothing stains and antiperspirant marks.
11. One of the oldest tricks, is to use toothpaste to clean silver jewellery. This will bring back a wonderful sparkle.
12. You can also use this to clean burnt crusts from irons, which may be blocking the water holes.
13. It is also deodorizing so you can use it to remove stubborn smells from the hands such as garlic or onion.
14. If you have a pair of swimming goggles, you can polish inside and out with a small amount of toothpaste. This will prevent them from fogging up.
15. This also works on bathroom mirrors, taps, windows and many other items of furniture.
