Foods That Prevent Hair Loss in Men & Women

A list of foods that prevent hair loss in Men and Women

Many people are concerned about losing their hair, especially as we get older.

As we age the hair can become thinner, weaker and duller resulting in baldness and slow growing follicles.

Unfortunately eating the wrong foods is the most common cause of hair loss, because junk foods cause nutrient deficiencies and hormone imbalances.

By eating the right foods and nutrients you can help to restore blood circulation to the scalp and grow thicker, healthier hair.

In today's video we will highlight a list of 16 foods that prevent hair loss in both women and men.

1. Peppers
Peppers are one of the healthiest sources of Vitamin C for protecting against thinning hair with age. This antioxidant rich fruit helps the body to build proteins like collagen, which is an important part of the hair structure.  Vitamin C also helps your body absorb iron which helps to stimulate blood flow to the scalp.

2. Eggs
Eggs contain all the building of life and are rich in amino acids used to make keratin. Keratin is the structural protein which makes and protects hair follicles.  Eggs are also rich in biotin (Vitamin B7) which helps to carry nutrients to the hair and scalp. Always use pasture raised eggs, as these are more nutritious.

3. Bone Broth
Keratin and hair is a type of collagen which is very tough and fibrous. Bone broth is the richest source of collagen on the planet and is made from boiled animal bones. Consuming this regularly will help to prevent hair loss with age because it provides the raw materials needed to make the structure of the hair.

4. Pine Nuts
People who do not consume enough zinc from their foods often suffer with hair loss, a weak immune system and premature aging. We highly recommend consuming pine nuts as these are loaded with zinc to help prevent hair loss, eye problems and skin conditions. Zinc supports cellular replication and hair growth, especially when consumed from food sources.

5. Oysters
Another fantastic source of zinc in oysters. These small water-molluscs also provide lots of selenium, copper and iodine which are all needed for hair follicle growth. These minerals are bound to amino acids making them easy to absorb and use by the digestive system. These minerals not only boost hair growth, but also support the oil glands around the hair follicles.

6. Horsetail
Another important element involved with growing hair is silica. This is involved with manufacturing collagen, hair, skin and nails. Silica helps the hair to become stronger, shinier and less likely to split at the ends. Horsetail is a fern that was used in Ancient Rome and Greece for improving hair growth. You can take this now in capsule form.

7. Lemon Juice
Drinking freshly squeezed lemon juice in a glass of water each day is a great way to help cleanse the body of toxins. We absorb many toxins from the environment that  can cause hormone imbalances, which can also lead to hair loss.  Consuming lemon juice helps to detoxify the liver, promote stronger hair growth and clear, blemish free skin.

8. Shrimp
We always recommend consuming lots of sea food to protect against nutritional deficiencies and hair loss with age. Shrimp has a high content of B vitamins, zinc and iron which are used by the body to make hair follicles. It also contains Vitamin E which protects against dandruff and irritation of the scalp.

9. Nutritional Yeast
One of the most common causes of hair loss is a deficiency in B vitamins. Nutritional yeast is the number 1 natural source of these, especially Vitamin B5, B6, B7, B9 and B12. These all work together in the body to synthesize hair follicles, produce healthy oils for the hair, and nourish the hair with healthy blood flow.

10. Coriander
We highly recommend using coriander as a finishing herb for your delicious recipes. This is loaded with Vitamin C to help prevent breaking hair, rough skin and bleeding gums. It also helps to correct hormone imbalances which lead to hair loss, such as high DHT in men, and high insulin in women.

11. Beef Liver
Many people do not realise that beef liver is one of the most nutrient dense superfoods on Earth. The liver stores a great range of nutrients, especially B vitamins that support healthy hair growth and synthesizing proteins like collagen. Always chose grass fed beef liver, as this is the healthiest you can consume.

12. Apple Cider Vinegar
Many people suffer with acid reflux and heartburn as they get older. This can cause problems with absorbing minerals and proteins needed for healthy hair growth. Drinking 2 teaspoons of ACV in a glass of water before each meal, strengthens the stomach and allows you to absorb more nutrients for proper hair growth. This also naturally treats heartburn and indigestion.

13. Blueberries
Blueberries are another wonderful source of Vitamin C, anthocyanins and antioxidants that have been scientifically shown to fight aging. Consuming 1 portion of mixed dark berries daily can help to protect against hair loss by supporting the cellular functions of the body.

14. Olive Oil
Many regular vegetable oils are made from seeds which cause inflammation and free radical damage to the body. Over time free radicals block the circulation of blood to the scalp which can cause hair loss. Throw away those unhealthy oils and start consuming extra virgin olive oil or avocado oil daily. These are rich in Vitamin E which improves circulation to the scalp and reduces free radical damage to hair follicles.

15. Salmon
Inflammation is the leading problem connected to most diseases and problems with the human body. We recommend consuming lots of healthy omega 3 fatty acids to help lower inflammation and fight free radical damage that can lead to hair loss. Wild caught salmon is a fantastic source of omega 3-s.

16. Pumpkin Seeds
Last but by no means least, pumpkin seeds are a simple snack which can protect your hair from thinning out with age. Women who are going through the menopause may suffer with a magnesium deficiency which can lead to hair loss. Pumpkin seeds supply lots of magnesium and zinc which help cell division and growing strong and healthy hair.

As you can see there are many wonderful foods that you can consume to strengthen the hair follicles and protect against hair loss with age.

Consuming a diet filled with leafy green vegetables, berries and nutritious fish is a great way to stay healthy and vibrant with age.

Be sure to avoid refined sugars and grains, as much as possible. These foods deplete important minerals and nutrients that are needed for healthy growing hair.

A few other foods that we haven't mentioned today are sea kelp, pig liver, basil, trout, virgin cod liver oil, rose hips, kiwi, and grass fed butter.

These foods are also packed full of the nutrients mentioned today to help prevent hair loss.

You may also wish to keep your scalp healthy by moisturising it with coconut oil once a week. This destroys fungus and bacteria that could cause flakes and itchiness, also helping to unclog the pores for easy hair growth.
