Boiling Moringa Flowers: Benefits


The benefits of boiling moringa flowers, and how to do this yourself at home.

1. Moringa flowers come from the moringa oleifera, A tree well known for its medicinal health benefits

2. In our video on Moringa leaves, we discussed many of these health benefits, but you can also use the flower for some extra uses.

3. These flowers are beautifully white in colour and are very fragrant. The bloom varies depending on the climate where moringa is being grown.

4. One of the most common uses, is to boil the fresh flowers in water for 5 minutes to make a medicinal tea.

5. This tea has a very distinctive flavour recognisable as moringa, and is often used in villages in Haiti as a cold and flu remedy.

6. Some argue that for the very best health benefits, you should not boil the flowers.

7. The alternative method is to collect a desired amount of flowers, and press them to release the juice.

8. This juice is used to treat urinary tract infections, and to aid in weight loss by releasing fluid retention and swelling.

9. In the same way the leaves do, the flowers have been shown to reduce high blood pressure, and regulate blood sugar levels for those who have diabetes.

10. Some prefer to eat the flowers directly. They are sometimes battered and fried as a healthy snack or cooked into delicious stir fries.

11. The flower heads are also used as a natural air freshener by placing them in bowls around the home. 

12. Due to their fragrance, they have been used in cosmetic products, perfumes and colognes.
