Avocado Seed: Benefits and Uses


The health benefits and uses of the avocado seed also known as the pit.

1. The large seed or pit contained within avocados is often thrown away, but it has some wonderful health benefits.

2. Avocados are grown all around the world in tropical climates, but originally came from Mexico. 

3. The seed is well known for its fat burning properties. The natural oil contained within the seed, is more powerful than the avocado pulp.

4. Beauticians love to use avocado seed for the skin. Simply take the seed fresh from a ripened avocado, blend with a little olive oil and you will then have a facial mask. Use this solution to scrub your skin. This will treat acne, also unclogging pours and producing radiant skin. 

5. Avocado seeds can also be used to make a pink dye. You can use this on all kinds of fabrics.

6. The calcium, magnesium and potassium within the seed are great for relaxation. Boil the avocado seed with 2 cups of water for around 6 minutes. This may taste a little bitter so add some honey or fruit for extra flavor.

7. You can also blend this into a health smoothie or juice. Experiment with different fruits and vegetables to produce healthy, yet tasty drinks.

8. Hair can be conditioned by grating the avocado seed and mixing with your regular shampoo. This will treat a dry scalp, and also add nutrients to your hair. For a full avocado hair mask treatment, please see our other video.

9. There have been studies suggesting that extracts from both the pulp and the seed can destroy leukaemia cells.

10. To safely remove the avocado seed, after you have cut your avocado in half. Whack the sharp knife directly into the seed and twist. This makes it easier to release it.
