Avocado Leaves: Benefits and Uses


The health benefits and uses of avocado leaves

1. The leaves of avocado have been used in herbal medicine for many years. 

2. Avocados originate in South Central Mexico, but are now grown in all tropical climates around the world.

3. The leaves contain natural oils which are beneficial for those suffering with dry skin.

4. To get the benefits from these leaves, you will want to make avocado leaf tea. You can make this from freshly picked leaves, or dried leaves.

5. Simply add 3 tablespoons of crushed avocado leaf to 1 litre of boiling water. Steep for at least 15-
20 minutes then allow the tea to cool.

6. You can add honey to enhance the taste. Be sure to drink 1-2 cups per day for the best effects.

7. Those suffering with kidney problems, may find this tea useful as it helps to cleanse the kidneys of toxins and impurities. 

8. The leaves are anti-inflammatory and are used for pain relief. Drinking this tea soothes painful headaches, toothaches, menstrual and back pain. 

9. Thrush and mouth ulcers can also be treated by chewing the leaves and gargling the tea. Do not swallow the leaves however.

10. Hypertension, also known as high blood pressure can be reduced, with regular consumption of leafy green teas.

11. This tea can also be used as a conditioner for the hair and scalp. Simply wash your hair with this to enhance the thickness of your hair, and reduce dry scalp problems.

12. Please note that avocado leaves can be toxic to animals, so please keep these away from your pets.
